Emmett Coffey
Emmett Coffey lectures in Public Relations and Media Studies in the Media Communications department in Cork Institute of Technology and is course co-ordinator of the departmentís MA in Public Relations with New Media and the Higher Diploma in Arts in Public Relations. He previously worked as a public relations consultant for the Chernobyl Childrenís Project and the Irish Christian Brothers and for leading public relations consultancies Fleishman-Hillard Saunders and Keating & Associates.

He completed his Masters in Public Relations at Dublin Institute of Technology, his thesis focussing on crisis management strategies employed in the Irish education system. He has also pursued postgraduate studies with the Open University in the area of Media and Cultural Studies. He is an Arts graduate from UCC where he also gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science and the H Dip Ed.

A former secondary school teacher and journalist, his current research interests lie in the area of the relationship between the public relations and media industries and in the new and social media techniques and strategies being employed by corporate sector.
